WELCOME

Invictus

By William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Welcome to the creation of the Radick Review. The Radick Review was inspired by the following poem that William Ernest Henley wrote while in his hospital bed after a leg amputation when he was 25 years old. Henley lived an amazing life for 28 more years and wrote numerous literary works. Invictus (Latin for unconquerable) is his most famous contribution.

The Radick Review is a collection of blogs that will pertain to the issues of life-finances, career opportunities, style, success, and entertainment. This blog is a collaborative effort between my adorable husband Tony and myself. This blog was created for numerous reasons (1) I felt as if I had something important to say (I learned many years ago to never speak unless I can improve the silence), (2) I thought that it would be a fun challenge, (3) I honestly just wanted to write more (as does Tony), and (4) I strongly believe that whatever path we choose in life, we must do it with excellence because mediocrity is seldom the path that any person chooses to embark upon. Those are our reasons and this is our contribution, please enjoy.
